a room that collects things
Two rooms in Doha, one in Msheireb and one at Centro Mall. Both built the same way: dark wood, warm light, and objects that look as though they arrived one at a time rather than all at once.

what it is made of
Nothing here is a finish chosen from a board. The palette of this website is taken directly from these surfaces.
- Floor
- Green-and-white marble checkerboard, laid on the diagonal.
- Walls
- Dark stained walnut, panelled in a deep grid.
- Ceiling
- A tan coffered grid, lit from the recesses.
- Seating
- Mustard velvet, sage, ticking stripe, buffalo check.
- Light
- Brass sconces, cream shades, and real candles.
- Walls, again
- A boulangerie in oils, and three long-faced portraits.

what to order
The name is not decorative: the ice cream comes on toast. Prices in Qatari riyal.

The cups
an oversized funjan
The coffee is served in ceramics made for the café by fkhar: the small Arabic coffee cup, thrown by hand and scaled up until it holds a full latte. Marbled glaze, no two alike.
